The Restoration of the Capitol Theatre
Looking to the Future:
The Board of Directors of the Capitol Theatre has developed a Master Plan which addresses an historical restoration and building renovation project.
This project includes the restoration of the building façade and features the redesign and construction of our missing marquee and 45-ft. vertical “blade” sign that people may remember illuminating downtown Rome from 1928-1939. The plan will include upgrading the theatre’s public spaces to historic conditions with tastefully introduced modernizations where appropriate.
The plan also includes much-needed improvement to the building facilities, such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), fire protection, and expanded restroom facilities.
Lastly, the plan includes updates to the antiquated stage, sound, lighting, and rigging systems with the addition of a stage support expansion to the rear of the theater which will include dressing rooms and technical support spaces.
