Cinema Capitol will present the historical drama MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS each day from Friday, January 11-Thursday, January 24.
MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart (Saoirse Ronan). Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history. The movie also stars Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn. Guy Pearce, and David Tennant.
RONAN was nominated for “Outstanding Actress in a Feature Film” at the 2019 WOMEN’S IMAGE NETWORK AWARDS, while Robbie received a nomination for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role” at the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARD.
MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS runs 125 minutes and is rated R (for some violence and sexuality). Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for students and military, and $5 for Capitol Friends. Tickets are available at the door and in advance from the Capitol box office (315-337-6453) and online at www.romecapitol.com.
