Capitolfest 18 Brings Visitors
To The Downtown Arts District!
In 2017 New York state awarded the City of Rome $10,000,000. The Capitol received 2.5 million dollars of that money to restore the Capitol as part of the plan to reinvigorate downtown Rome. Since that time, the Capitol restoration has been initiated and downtown storefronts have been increasing. The weekend of August 13, 2021 is an example of how the burgeoning Art District is working together to become a vibrant part of the Rome community.
Over the weekend, Capitolfest 18 brought in hundreds of film enthusiasts to Rome for 3 days of classic early talkies and silent movies. While visitors ventured around the city, they were also able to eat at restaurants within walking distance between film screenings. Copperccino’s, The Balanced Chef and a visiting food truck were kept busy all weekend with hungry customers grabbing a bite to eat.
