Capitolfest High School and College Student Scholarship Application
Funds from the Film Music Foundation have made it possible for the Capitol to host 50 high school and college students from the Mohawk Valley at its 18th annual Capitolfest film festival. This three-day festival of rare silent and early talkie movies is held in the historic Capitol Theatre. It offers an unique experience complete with live music on the Capitol’s original-installation theater organ, presentation via 35mm carbon arc film projectors, visits from special guests, and live talks by some of today’s prominent film preservationists and historians.
Capitolfest 18 will be held on August 14, 15, and 16, 2020. Students will be given full festival admission, and will be welcome to attend an informal social mixer the evening on Thursday, August 13. During a break on Saturday, students will be invited to attend a presentation on the mechanics of the theater organ, and will be able to visit the projection booth to learn more about how films are shown through traditional methods.
To apply for a Captiolfest student scholarship, simply complete the form. Priority will be given to students who are musicians, though this is not a requirement for selection.
