Cinema Capitol will present the 1992 Japanese anime movie PORCO ROSSO from Friday, June 21-Thursday, June 27. There will be both Japanese language and English-dubbed show times.

PORCO ROSSO was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and was based upon Miyazaki’s own watercolor manga, “The Age of the Flying Boat.” In 1930s Italy, sky pirates in biplanes terrorize wealthy cruise ships. The only pilot brave enough to stop the scourge is the mysterious Porco Rosso, a former World War I flying ace who was somehow turned into a pig during the war. As he prepares to battle the pirate crew’s American ace, Porco Rosso enlists the help of spunky girl mechanic and his longtime friend, Madame Gina.

PORCO ROSSO runs 105 minutes and is rated PG. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for students, children, and military, and $6 for Capitol Friends.

The movie will be shown each day from Friday, June 21-Thursday, June 27. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 4:15 and 7:15, Sunday at 1:15 and 4:15, and Monday-Thursday at 7:15. Show times which will be dubbed in English are Friday at 4:15, Sunday at 1:15, and Tuesday at 7:15. All others will be in the original Japanese.
