SUMMARY:2001: A Space Odyssey
DESCRIPTION:The sci-fi movie for the ages\, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey\, will be presented via a restored “road show” version of the film (2 hours\, 23 minutes plus intermission) on the Capitol’s 40-ft. wide screen. Based on two stories by Arthur C. Clarke\, the plot of 2001: A Space Odyssey is set in motion when a strange artifact is found on the moon. A crew of two men and an advanced computer system (HAL-9000) are sent to Jupiter to unravel the mystery. Leonard Maltin’s Movie & Video Guide describes the movie as “A unique masterpiece\, immensely influential…” Time Out magazine says\, “It stands now as a work of pure\, sensory cinema: graceful\, inquisitive\, technologically groundbreaking\, endlessly rewatchable — a flawless film.” \n     Heading the cast of 2001: A Space Odyssey are Keir Dullea\, Gary Lockwood\, and \nWilliam Sylvester\, with Douglas Rain as the voice of “HAL.” \n     Admission is $8 for adults\, $7 for seniors/students/military\, $6 for Capitol Friends\, and $4 for children 12 and under.
