Cinema Capitol will present the drama THE MUSTANG from Friday, April 19-Thursday, April 25.
The directorial debut of Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, THE MUSTANG stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Roman, a convict in a rural Nevada prison. He struggles to escape his violent past and is required to participate in an outdoor maintenance program as part of his state-mandated social rehabilitation. Spotted by a no-nonsense trainer (Bruce Dern) and helped by an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider (Jason Mitchell), Roman is accepted into the selective wild horse training section of the program, where he finds his own humanity in gentling an especially unbreakable mustang. The movie also stars Connie Britton, Gideon Adlon, and Josh Stewart.
ROLLING STONE writes “Filmmaker Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s story of a troubled convict (an incendiary, indelible Matthias Schoenaerts) bonding with a wild mustang is a striking debut. Each time you think you have this movie pegged, it’ll knock you for a loop.” The SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE also writes “Within no more than a minute of screen time, we know that director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre has authority and vision, and that we are watching a good movie.”
THE MUSTANG runs 120 minutes and is rated R (for language, some violence, and drug content).
