A Trip To The Moon with Jack and the Jukebox

Get ready for an out of this world evening of entertainment!

The night starts with the Lunar Launch Party as we open The Rome Art Association's new "Lunar Exhibit" inside the Cinema Capitol lobby. This pre-movie reception will begin at 6:30. Villa Verona Vineyard will conduct a wine tasting, specialty coffee will be served along side hors d'oeuvres and an unplugged set from Jack And The Jukebox!

At 7:30 get ready for “A Trip To The Moon”, the 1902 silent film from the godfather of special effects, director Georges Méliès. Years ahead of its time, "A Trip to the Moon" film was an international success. Its unusual length (13 minutes), lavish production values, arresting special effects, and emphasis on storytelling were markedly influential on other film-makers and, ultimately, on the development of narrative film making as a whole.

Though “A Trip To The Moon” is of silent, it was not intended to be seen silently; exhibitors often used a bonimenteur, or narrator, to explain the story as it unfolded on the screen, accompanied by sound effects and live music. In a modern approach to the live sound effects and music, the group “Jack & The Jukebox” will accompany the film with their own original score live at Cinema Capitol.

Following the accompanied screening of “A Trip To The Moon,” a second feature, “Moonwalkers,” will be shown.

MOONWALKERS SYNOPSIS: After failing to locate the legendary Stanley Kubrick, an unstable CIA agent (Ron Perlman) must instead team up with a seedy rock band manager (Rupert Grint) to develop the biggest con of all time-staging the moon landing.

Please Note: Tickets for the "Lunar Launch Party" are limited with only 30 tickets available. The $15 ticket will include the wine tasting with Villa Verona Vineyard, out of this world coffee from Character Coffee, hors d'oeuvres and admission to the movies and live soundtrack performance.

If you would rather attend just the screenings of "A Trip to the Moon" and "Moonwalkers" tickets are available for $10.
