Cinema Capitol (230 W. Dominick St.) will present the German historical drama BALLOON from March 13-19. The movie is in German with English subtitles.
BALLOON was based upon true events. In the summer of 1979, the Strelzyk and Wetzel families, who had been working on their audacious plan for more than two years, try to flee East Germany in a self-made hot-air balloon. But after the balloon crash-lands, the Stasi find traces of the attempted escape and launch an investigation.
BALLOON was awarded an Audience Award for “Best Feature Film” at the 2019 WASHINGTON DC FILMFEST and was awarded “Best International Film” at the ST. LOUIS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.
BALLOON runs 125 minutes and is not rated. Admission is $8.00 for adults; $7.00 for students and military; and $6.00 for Capitol Friends.
BALLOON will play each day from Friday, March 13 through Thursday, March 19. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 4:00 and 7:00, Sunday at 1:00 and 4:00, and Monday-Thursday at 7:00.
Tickets are available at the door and in advance from the Capitol Box Office.
