Reap The Wild Wind (1942)

REAP THE WILD WIND (Paramount, 1942) Cecil B. DeMille’s epic Technicolor spectacular starring Ray Milland, John Wayne, and Paulette Goddard. Set in the 19th Century, the story revolves around a series of shipwrecks and a marine salvaging company that may be responsible for causing them. Raymond Massey is the villainous “King” Culter, with others in the cast including Susan Hayward, Charles Bickford, Hedda Hopper, and Louise Beavers. The movie won an Academy Award for Best Special Effects, and is highlighted by an epic underwater battle with a giant squid to be screened at the historic Capitol Theatre from a spectacularly restored 35mm print directly from Universal Pictures!
