“A band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have a personality.” – Glenn Miller
The most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.
The 19-piece ensemble plays the original swing arrangements of the Glenn Miller Orchestra from the 1930’s and ‘40’s, as well as a few newer numbers that are performed in the original “Miller style.” Vocalist Nick Hilscher leads the band.
The “Road Book” carried by the Glenn Miller Orchestra adds up to over 300 charts, many of them out of the original library.
Among the pieces they are likely to perform at their Capitol Theatre appearance on October 25 are “Little Brown Jug,” “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “Tuxedo Junction,” “In the Mood,” “Bugle Call Rag,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” and the band’s theme song, “Moonlight Serenade.”
