Cinema Capitol will present the Western movie NEWS OF THE WORLD beginning on Christmas, the day of its theatrical release.

NEWS OF THE WORLD stars Tom Hanks who plays Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, a veteran of three wars. Five years after the Civil War, the captain now makes a living travelling from town to town as a non-fiction storyteller, sharing the news of presidents and queens, glorious feuds, devastating catastrophes, and gripping adventures from the far reaches of the globe. In the plains of Texas, he crosses paths with Johanna (Helena Zengel), a 10-year-old girl taken in by the Kiowa people six years earlier and raised as one of their own. Captain Kidd is determined to reunite Johanna with her biological family, even against her will. Also in the cast are Neil Sandilands, Mare Winningham, Thomas Francis Murphy, and Elizabeth Marvel.

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER writes that the movie is “Soulful, steady, stirring.” MOVIEFREAK.COM says that “Hanks is his typical outstanding self, bringing a level of internalized gravitas to the story that’s undeniably moving.”

NEWS OF THE WORLD will play on select days over two weeks: Fridays and Saturdays at 4:00 and 7:00, Sundays at 1:00 and 4:00, and Mondays at 7:00. Friday’s 4:00 and Sunday’s 1:00 show times will include captions for the hearing-impaired.

All patrons are required to wear masks for the duration of the movie, unless eating and/or drinking. Parties will be socially-distanced at least 6 feet apart.
