Cinema Capitol will begin the second installment of its “Hitchcock: Buried but Alive” series with the movie STAGE FRIGHT from Friday, November 2-Thursday, November 8.
The “Hitchcock: Buried but Alive” series was created last December and presents the lesser-known and rarely-screened works of the eminent director Alfred Hitchcock.
In this black and white thriller from 1950, the police think that actor Jonathan (Richard Todd) is a murderer, and they’re on his tail. He asserts that it was his lover, a famous actress (Marlene Dietrich), who killed the victim (not coincidentally, her husband). He seeks shelter with his ex-girlfriend (Jane Wyman) who tries to prove him innocent by playing detective and assuming multiple disguises. But once she is entangled in a web of deception, she fears everyone wears a mask. Others in the cast include Alastair Sim, Sybil Thorndike, Kay Walsh, and Hitchcock’s daughter Pat Hitchcock in her movie debut.
