Robot Revenge Double Feature

October 19, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The double feature Live band movie night has always featured a silent movie adaptation with music performed live in Cinema Capitol followed by a main feature.

This year’s main feature is Ex_Machina. The movie follows a programmer who is invited by his CEO to administer the Turing test to an intelligent humanoid robot.

This year’s film adaptation is from the  Fritz Lang 1928 classic Metropolis. The music is performed by the No Budget Orchestra-but the music will be prerecorded, complete with 5.1 foley sound effects and unlike in previous years-the adaptation does not follow the original story line.

The movie “Metropolis” (1928) features the iconic robot Maria. This retelling is a 13 minute film entitled “Maria” that focuses on her. Those familiar with the original will notice the complete departure from the original script. Newcomers seeing the film for the first time will watch an original story.

The No Budget Orchestra features Juliane Price, Rome Arts District owner of A Vi Vo School of Acting, Violin and Voice, as the Narrator and a brief onscreen appearance, noted theatre organist David Peckham, from Horseheads, New York and a regular attraction at Capitolfest, performs a segment from the original orchestra music score released with the film in 1928, Corey Colmey, a percussion instructor in the Rome Arts District adds percussion and Rick E. Lewis plays guitar and Roland GR 55 synthesizer.

Tickets are $10.
