Director Alfred Hitchcock’s third movie, and his first thriller. (According to the director, “the first real Alfred Hitchcock picture.”) Based on the novel by Mrs. Belloc Lowndes, The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, relates the tale of a British family who takes in a border and gradually suspect that he is the person responsible for a “Jack the Ripper” style series of murders of young blonde women. Starring British matinee idol Ivor Novello, with Malcolm Keen, June (Tripp), and Marie Ault. “One for Hitch fans, one for thriller fans, one for cinema fans.
