Director Alfred Hitchcock’s third movie, and his first thriller. (According to the director, “the first real Alfred Hitchcock picture.”) Based on the novel by Mrs. Belloc Lowndes, The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, relates the tale of a British family who takes in a border and gradually suspect that he is the person responsible for a “Jack the Ripper” style series of murders of young blonde women.
