SummerStage: Fiddler On The Roof

The Capitol Theatre invites you to this year’s SummerStage! as we present Fiddler on the Roof, a LIVE ON STAGE musical with music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein, the show is based on tales by Sholem Aleichem and concerns a milkman in a Russian village at the turn of the century who attempts to retain his Jewish cultural and religious traditions despite outside influences that disrupt the lives of his family. Tevye must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters who wish to marry for love, and their choices of husbands are successively less palatable for Tevye. This story of family and tradition is set against the impending danger of the Tsar evicting Jews from their homes.

Winner of 9 Tony Awards in its original production, Fiddler on the Roof was the first Broadway show ever to exceed 3,000 performances.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
