Cinema Capitol is excited to announce its plans for another hotly anticipated movie awards season that is about to begin. According to Capitol Arts Complex Administrative Assistant AJ Parker, “On Tuesday, January 23 at 7 am, bright and early in the morning, the Cinema Capitol will continue a tradition it started in 2019: The Oscar Nomination Breakfast Watch Party. Started on a whim, the first watch party for the Oscar nominations was held on a morning that had a temperature of -17 degrees-not including the wind chill factor.”

Parker further noted that guests at the nomination watch party can try their hands at predicting the nominations for prizes, and enjoy free early morning coffee courtesy of Superofficial and Oscar themed pastries from Always Sonny Baked Goods. After that date, or even before, the Cinema expects to have many of the most anticipated titles running throughout the season. Movies Cinema Capitol expects to run during “Oscar season” includes titles such as American FictionAnatomy of a FallBarbieThe Boy and the Heron, The HoldoversKillers of the Flower MoonMaestroOppenheimerOscar Nominated ShortsPast LivesPoor Things, and The Zone of Interest

Then, on Sunday, March 10, it’s time for the biggest night of the year for those who celebrate the cinema, when the Cinema Capitol will continue its long history of showing the 96th Academy Awards live on the big screen. Parker says that during the Cinema Capitol’s public screening of the Oscars, “guests can enjoy refreshments and try to guess the winners for prizes at a ticketed event raising funds to benefit the Cinema’s operating costs in the new year. So save the dates, keep on the lookout for showtimes and more information, and come to the Cinema Capitol – where you can see the Oscar-nominated films of tomorrow today!”

Parker added, “The Cinema Capitol screen is the best place to see as many of the nominated movies as possible. Last year, patrons viewed eight out of ten Best Picture nominees, fifteen out of twenty acting nominees, all four acting winners, and all eight of the top awards winners, all on the screen at Cinema Capitol. It’s safe to say that this awards season will be no different.”

The Oscar Nomination Breakfast Watch party is free and open to the public.
