As this year’s Capitolfest kick-off movie, we’ve selected If I Had a Million, a 1932 anthology comedy starring Gary Cooper, Charles Laughton, George Raft, W.C. Fields, Richard Bennett, and Capitolfest tribute star Charlie Ruggles. Based on the novel Windfall by Robert Hardy Andrews, If I Had a Million follows a dying millionaire who decides to give away his fortune to eight random individuals, whose situations are depicted in vignettes directed by seven different directors.
Shown as a “pre-glow” to the Capitolfest film festival, which follows August 14-16.
