Movie Thumb

1941 (1979)

“1941” directed by Steven Spielberg; with Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John Belushi, Treat Williams, Nancy Allen, Robert Stack, Slim Pickens, Christopher Lee, John Candy, and many others. Spielberg’s blockbuster comedy that depicts what happens after Los Angeles is panicked following the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941. This over-the-top, big-budget spectacular may very well have more crashes and explosions per foot than any other movie ever made! Considered a misfire at the time of its release, 1941 has been re-assessed and is now considered by many to be wildly destructive fun. (It should be even more fun on the Capitol’s 40ft. wide screen!) “Led by some of the biggest names in comedy at the time, 1941 is Steven Spielberg’s most underrated film of all time.” –Solzy at the Movies.
