Drive-In Night Double Feature

It’s the return of an annual favorite! DRIVE-IN NIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE. Two drive-in style movies shown INSIDE the historic Capitol Theatre.

Our first title for the night will be THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (Paramount, 1953, Technicolor, 85 minutes, Digital presentation [DCP]), digitally presented in a brand-new restoration.

Directed by Byron Haskin; with Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Bob Cornthwaite. Earth is suddenly invaded by Martians and American scientist Doctor Clayton Forrester searches for any weakness to stop them in the very first film adaptation of the classic science fiction novel by H.G. Wells. Oscar winner for Best Visual Effects.

Then, THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT, also known as THE CREEPING UNKNOWN (Hammer Films, 1955, B&W, 81 minutes, 35 mm film). Directed by Val Guest; with Brian Donlevy, Richard Wordsworth, Jack Warner, David King-Wood, Margia Dean. Premiere Hammer Horror film in which a rocket crash-lands on Earth setting loose an alien creature that Professor Quatermass and Inspector Lomax must track down to prevent catastrophe.

There will be a ten-minute intermission between features featuring drive-in snipes from the period, and drive-in style foods will be available in front of the theater (courtesy of SuperOfficial) for purchase before the show.

Ticket Prices are Adults $5, Children 12 and under $3, with FREE ADMISSION for Capitol Friends.
