Movie Thumb

Pinnochio (1940)

As part of its year-long 100th anniversary tribute to Walt Disney Studios, Rome’s Capitol Theatre presents the beloved 1940 animated feature, Pinocchio.

Leonard Maltin’s Movie & Video Guide calls Pinocchio, “Technically dazzling, emotionally rich, with unforgettable characters and some of the scariest scenes ever put on film… A joy, no matter how many times you see it.”

Among the original songs in the film are “Hi, Diddle-Dee-Dee,” “I’ve Got No Strings,” and “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and became the theme song for Walt Disney Productions.

The color movie runs 88 minutes and will be seen in a new 4K digital restoration directly from Walt Disney Studios. The movie is rated G, but parents and guardians are cautioned that there are some scenes that may prove disturbingly intense for impressionable children.
